The Koala bear is a mammal that lives in Australia. Koala bears are about a foot long and they can weigh  10-30 pounds. They have light gray fur and patches. There's white on their chest, neck and ears.  All Koala bears look soft and cuddly but underneath is a little muscle. They can live 13-18 years.

Koala bears sleep 18-20 hours a day. They are social animals that live in different territories.

Koala bears are plant eaters. They eat gum tree leaves. All Koala bears store food in their big cheek patches.  Their  big nose helps them decide what to eat. First it sniffs and if it doesn't smell right it will pass it. Koalas can eat 2.5 pounds of poisonous leaves everyday without a problem.

There are four stages of a Koala bears' life cycle. The first stage is an embryo. The second is an infant. The third stage is a young mammal and the last stage is an adult or an adult Koala bear.

Koala Bears scientific name is Phascharctes Cinerus. Phascharctes Cinerusare are almost endangered but their numbers are rolling back up again. One young infant is on her mother's back until its grown.

Some people say Koala bears are lazy creatures but when it comes time for food that changes. They mostly eat bamboo. The Koala's closest relative is a wombat. Koalas have special feet and hands for climbing trees.
