Iguanas

                                            Description

The iguana is four to six feet long.  They are green to brown to yellow.  They weigh 15,20,10, or 40 pounds.

Habitat

Iguanas live in  North and south America , rain forests, deserts, and the sea.  

Diet

They eat leaves, flowers, fruit, insects, worms and other small animals.

Life cycle

The female lays 20,70 eggs. The cycle is egg, young iguana, adult.  

Interesting facts

They can fall 40-50 feet to the ground with out getting hurt. Their predators are some large birds of prey, foxes, rats, weasels, some snakes and people. 

They have short powerful limbs equipped with strong sharp claws for climbing and digging.  They use their powerful legs to swim. 
A large flap of skin called the dewlap hangs from the throat and helps regulate body temperature. 
Iguanas also have a prominent crest of soft spines along the mid line of the neck and back, beginning at the base of the skull. Young iguanas are pale blue-green with dark ringed tails. 
The iguana is widely hunted throughout its range for its tender white flesh.
American natives refer to green iguana as'' bamboo chicken''.
There are about 700 different species in North, South and Central America.
