The Bobcat

The adult bobcat measures from 30-45 inches.  Bobcats are short tailed, barred with black  stripes above.  Their  tails end in black on top and are tipped with white.

There are tufts of hair on top.  The face has dark marks on it.  There's lighter fur on their belly.  Their coat is spotted.   Bobcats have a short tail and pointed ears.  The stubby tail is only 4 to 7 inches long ( 10- 18 cm long)

Bobcats ( Felis rufus )  are fierce  cats that live in forests, swamps, mountain prairie and deserts of much of North America.  They do not hibernate because  they mate in late winter and early spring.  After a pregnancy  of 65 days the female  gives birth to her young.  Females can have 2 or 3 babies at one time  The life cycle is embryo, infant, young mammal, adult bobcat.
Bobcats are carnivores ( meat eaters).  These solitary hunters that  eat small mammals 
( like, rabbits, hares, rodents, foxes, weasels, and even small deer.  Bobcats  stalk their prey, and they pounce  on it .  They can kill their prey with one powerful bite.
Bobcats range from  Southern Canada south through  Mexico.  They  have a life span of 10-14 years.  They are very  good climbers.  There most active at night. . They don't hibernate.  They spend most  of their time in their den
( cave) hollow, rock  or log. Bobcats can leap up to 10 feet.  Bobcats can swim.
